What is Photogenic?

Photogenic is a model marketing tool that can be used by models to market themselves. We do not market you, but help you market yourself better. The portfolio hosting service at Photogenic is its core strength. It provides models with a readymade interface whose URL/web address/link they can forward to modeling agencies, model coordinators and photographers.

Is Photogenic a Modeling Agency?

No, Photogenic is not a Modeling Agency.

Will Photogenic represent me?

No, Photogenic does not represent you as an agent, manager or coordinator.

Will Photogenic click my modeling portfolio?

No, Photogenic will not click your portfolio.

Will Photogenic give me modeling jobs?

No, Photogenic does not participate in getting you modeling jobs

Does Photogenic charge a commission on work that i get through the site?

No, Photogenic does not charge any commission on the work that you may have obtained through the website. At the same time, if you want your portfolio hosted at Photogenic, you are liable to pay the membership fees regardless of any jobs received through the website.

Who can join Photogenic?

Anyone who wants to host their modeling portfolio can subscribe to Photogenic.

I am not a professional model but want to be, can i join?

Yes, Photogenic is open to aspiring models and well as professional models.

Can i upload pictures of my kid?

You can upload and manage the portfolio on behalf of your child. Young models are also welcome to join Photogenic. However, minors need the consent of their parents/guardian to use Photogenic services. Such consent must be sent to us in writing, duly signed by the parent/guardian. Please send all consent to our postal address provided in the contact section.

How do i use Photogenic to get its maximum impact?

The idea of using Photogenic is that you do not have to flood the inbox of modeling agencies, model coordinators, stylists and photographers with your portfolio pictures. After you have uploaded your images to your account at Photogenic and filled in your complete profile all you need to do is send one picture along with your email and include your Photogenic portfolio link in the email. Your prospective clients get an idea of what you look like and know where to see more pictures of you.

Why should i join Photogenic?

Good looks are complimented by a good portfolio and a good portfolio is complimented by a good presentation. We believe that looks matter and offer an attractive Flash based photo gallery where you can display your portfolio photographs. Unlike other online portfolio hosting services, Photogenic makes a dedicated micro-site for you where your pictures and profile take priority over other things. We do not display advertisements, site navigation or link to other models on your pages. It's exclusively for you. This adds a lot of character and personality to the presentation of your pictures. What are the different packages that i can subscribe to?

Photogenic model portfolio service is available in three packages. Photogenic Silver
Photogenic Gold, and
Photogenic Platinum

Is Photogenic free? How much does it cost to join?

Being a top quality product Photogenic is not available for free. There are three packages that you can choose from. The cost of subscription depends on the package you choose. For details on pricing refer to our packages page.

Which package is right for me?

Choosing a package is simple. You can choose one depending on how many photos you want to keep in your portfolio. If you want to keep 10 or less photos then go in for the Photogenic Silver package. It you would like to show 10-20 photos then the Gold package is right for you. If you want to show 20-30 photos in your portfolio then subscribe to the Platinum package.

How do i sign up for a package? What is the procedure?

You can register for a package by filling in the Sign Up form available in the Sign Up section. You can pay the subscription fees either online using a Credit Card or if you are an Indian Resident you can pay by cheque or bank transfers. Please see the contact section for our mailing address.
Since the site is still in a BETA version the sign up process is not fully automated.

Can i upgrade to another package in the future?

Yes, you can upgrade to a higher package at any time during your subscription period. You can also downgrade to a lower package. In either case the difference in subscription fees will be adjusted by decreasing or increasing your subscription period, accordingly. We do not offer refunds.

What photos should i use?

Photogenic is designed to host professional looking portfolios. Please use pictures shot by a professional photographer.

How many times can i change the photos in my portfolio?

The number of times you can update/change your portfolio depends on the package you subscribe to. Photogenic Silver allows 12 updates a year, Photogenic Gold allows 24 updates a year and Platinum 36 updates a year. This has been calculated keeping in mind 1, 2 and 3 updates a month respectively for each package. But you can update your portfolio any number of times a month as long as you do not exceed the update limit.

What if i need to update my portfolio more often?

Irrespective of the package you subscribe to you can update your portfolio any number of times a month. If you reach the update limit before the end of your subscription you can purchase more updates from the site. Just like a prepaid mobile phone where you can buy talktime when your card has validity - a top-up.

How do i sign up for a package?

You can subscribe to a package by filling in the Sign Up form and paying the appropriate subscription fees.

How do i pay the subscription fees?
What are the various modes of payment available to me?

You can pay using any of the following methods:

Online Options

Credit Card: Use an internationally valid Credit Card
(Supported cards: Mastercard, Visa and American Express)
Credit cards transactions are processed by Paypal

Paypal: Using your Paypal Account

Offline Options [ONLY FOR INDIAN RESIDENTS]

Cheque/Demand Drafts/Pay Orders: You can pay the subscription fees by sending us a cheque/demand draft or pay order drawn in favour of 'Mountain Media' and payable at par in Mumbai.
Please write your full name and mobile number at the back of the cheque / draft.

Bank transfer: You can add Mountain Media as a beneficiary in your online banking account and transfer the funds to our account.

Deposit: You can deposit the amount in our account by visiting your nearest HDFC Bank branch.

Please make payments of the exact amount.
Do not send cheques that are not payable at par in Mumbai.
The payments will not be refunded.

What is a username?


Your username is the name at which your portfolio will be accessed over the internet.
If you choose your username to be amit then your portfolio can be accessed by typing http://amit.photogenic.in in the address bar of your internet browser.

Your username is different from your login id. Your login id will be the email id which you had registered at Photogenic when signing-up.


How do i chose a username?

Since a username is an important part of the internet address at which your portfolio will be seen it is important that it be easily recognisable as being yours. For this it is advisable that you use your firstname, lastname or a combination of both like firstlast or lastfirst. In case these combinations are not availabe (i.e. taken up by someone else) then you can include the initial of your middle name or your date of birth or a number/name of your choice after your name.

We will not allow the registration of common english/hindi words and phrases unless your name is a part of it. Registration of adjectives like 'pretty' 'sexy' 'beautiful' etc. is not allowed (inspite of them being available) unless they precede or follow your name.

General rules:

1. Should be at least 3 letters long
2. Should not contain spaces or special characters
3. Can contain a hyphen (-)
4. Should be a combination of firstname / lastname or both
5. Can contain numbers

Can i change my username in the future?

No, not under ordinary circumstances. But in case you happen to change your name or the way it's spelt we may assist you in changing the username. In which case you may email us at customer_support@photogenic.in. Be sure to use the same email id with which you registered at Photogenic. Username change request without substantial reason will not be entertained. In that case to change your username you will have to signup for a new account and subscribe to a new package.

How do i change/update my profile?

Since we are still in a Beta phase you do not have login access to your account. At this time you can email us any updates using our standard profile form. Be sure to use the same email id with which you registered at Photogenic.

How do i upload photos to my portfolio?

Since we are still in a Beta phase you do not have login access to your account. At this time you can email us your portfolio pictures. Be sure to use the same email id with which you registered at Photogenic. Each new set of pictures that you email us to upload will be treated as an Update. The number of Updates permitted is restricted by your package.

Rename the files 01.jpg, 02.jpg,03.jpg....030.jpg in the order that you would like them to be displayed in your portfolio.

What should be the size of the pictures?

The pictures should not exceed 300kb. They should be, without borders, 800 pixels in length or 600 pixels in height at a resolution of 72 dpi. Just make sure they do not exceed 2mb each. If you are unable to resize them send them to us anyway, we will do the needful.

Your Account Activation email contains detailed instructions on how to access your member area and upload photos or make changes to your profile.

How do i update my profile at Photogenic.in?

To update your profile login to your member area and click on the Update Profile link. Details about accessing your members area was emailed to you. If you want us to re-mail them to you please contact us at customer_support@photogenic.in

Why does it take upto 24hrs for the changes i made to my account to reflect in my online Album or Profile ?

Photogenic.in manually checks all content uploaded for validity and appropriateness. This is extremely necessary to maintain the quality of our service. We thank you for your patience.

I have lost the password to my account, how do i get a new one?

Please email us at customer_support@photogenic.in requesting a new password.

How can i change the email id with which i registered at photogenic.in?

Please email us at customer_support@photogenic.in requesting to change your primary email id.

How do i know how many times i have updated my portfolio?

You can see your account status when you login to your member area. To know how to login to the member area please read the Account Activation email. For more instructions contact us at customer_support@photogenic.in

What happens if i use up the total number of updates available before the end of my subscription period?

If you use up the total number of updates available to you, you can buy more updates by contacting us at customer_support@photogenic.in

How can i purchase more updates for my account?
